Option 01: Discover The stories of Hanoi with Hanoi Vespa Tour - Half Day
Hanoi - Zooming through well-known city spots, authentic life in - out of city center
8:00 AM:The Insider’s Hanoi starts off sampling the local Café culture at our Italian style Café in the heart of the old quarter, overlooking Hanoi’s oldest church, to the famous French colonial style St. Joseph’s Cathedral.
We then set off for a ride through the city’s iconic narrow streets and head into the heart of the historic Old Quarter. Alighting at the railway tracks, we can see how the locals live & work, just centimeters from the train tracks in tall narrow houses.
After a short ride on the Vespas toward Huu Tiep Lake, we meet a fascinating elderly resident of the area who regales us with stories of the past in a 400-year-old temple. It’s then a short walk through traditional local market streets to see the B52 crash site at the lake. This US bomber was shot down during the 1972 bombing raids of Ha Noi, a poignant reminder of recent history.
It’s back on the Vespas for the ride to the Ngoc Ha Market and stroll around this huge, bustling place taking in the vibrant atmosphere that typifies Ha Noi.
We then ride out of the city to the Long Bien Bridge, a magnificent structure built over a hundred years ago which spans the Red River and connects the Hoan Kiem and Long Bien districts, and provides shelter to locals living on boats underneath. Only motorbikes & bicycles can traverse, so off we go!
Our next ride takes us along the riverside as we whiz past the ancient dyke wall, beautifully decorated with mosaic artworks and on to a Kumquat Farm, located in a peaceful green agricultural oasis in the city. These little trees are traditional gifts at Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, and adorn every family home, symbolizing luck, health, wealth, fertility and peace.
We then jump on the Vespas and head to our final spot, a special light snack before taking you back to your hotel.
Option 02: Vespa Tour Hanoi rural countryside - Half Day
Hanoi - Admiring the Long Bien Bridge, ancient capital of Co Loa, local farm, rice paddies, wood carving village
8:00 AM: We start off in the heart of the capital, taking in views of the spectacular Long Bien Bridge that spans the Red River.
We then take a ride on our Vespas, almost being transported back in time as we arrive at the ancient city of Co Loa in Hanoi’s quiet countryside. We breeze down cool back roads to visit a local farm in the middle of lush green rice paddies where we meet farmers to learn about their rural lifestyle.
After a breathtaking ride through the valley, we arrive at a hidden wood carving village to discover how traditional wooden Buddhist statues are made by craftsmen using ancient techniques.
Finally, we visit to a bustling local market and enjoy a tasty snack with a local family. Let our guides show you the real Vietnam off the beaten path.
End of tour at your hotel around 1:00 PM
Option 03: Hanoi Food Tour Vespa Tour Hanoi - Half Day
Hanoi - Immersing into local life, enjoying authentic Hanoi food, unique Jazz club
6:00 PM: Hanoi After dark starts at our stylish local Café with a cocktail and a delicious snack from one of the nearby night time vendors, before jumping on the back of the vintage Vespas.
After weaving through the magical, busy back streets of the Old Quarter, we soon arrive at a fascinating local joint right on the railway tracks (literally!) where we try some infused rice wine and a Buffalo Jerky appetizer.
It’s back riding through the narrow streets again, as we head toward our next foodie place, a lively local restaurant serving Bun Cha. This quintessential, must taste Hanoi dish of rice noodles, grilled pork and meatballs, with a side of Nem (spring rolls). Simple but delicious
We then head out of the Old Quarter and ride close by the lake toward our next venue, which is very famous in the neighborhood! We try the local specialty of Pho Cuon, and learn the art of wrap ‘n’ roll, Vietnamese style. With these fresh & fragrant ingredients, and the Pho noodle!
A short ride on the Vespas takes us to our final port of call, next to the superb Opera House. The halcyon days of the 1930’s may be over, however, this Jazz Club will wow you with a truly unique blend of styles – 30’s style Jazz & traditional Vietnamese music!
End of the tour drop you off at your hotel. Good night.
